In 1996,
The Rising Stars®
Showchoir Workshop was created by
Lori Palmisano and Julie Petrando in the
Chicagoland area.
Their goal was to provide a
positive environment for young people who wish
to explore
and develop their skill in singing, dancing, and
performing during the summer. We are eager to
celebrate our 15th season and we look forward to
encouraging participants to follow their dreams
through the thrill of performing.
The Rising Stars®
Showchoir Workshop seeks to nurture a love of
performing in students of all ages. Through the
music, performers are challenged and encouraged
to reach a level of excellence while developing
pride, confidence, discipline, self-esteem and
other important life skills.
At The Rising Stars®
we believe in nurturing the heart of the child
through the experience of fun, familiar music
that speaks to today’s young performer.
The Rising Stars® is
proud to offer a trained, teacher-certified
staff who are
nationally
recognized in their field of expertise.

What do we look for in a student staff member?
Student Staff positions are
limited. Therefore, we
have created the following
guidelines so that
applicants are aware of our
procedure and what we’re
looking for in staff members
prior to submitting their
applications:
-
First Priority:
Students who have
completed grade 9,
who have worked for
Rising Stars in the
previous year(s) in good
standing, and who
can commit to working
at all sessions if
selected.
-
Second Priority:
Students who have
completed grade 9 who
have attended Rising
Stars as a participant
in the past, and who can
commit to working at
all sessions if
selected. New
potential staff members
will be asked to come in
for a short interview.
-
Third Priority:
Students who have
completed grade 9 and
have worked for RS in
the past but can
only work a limited
number of sessions.
-
Fourth Priority:
Students who have
completed grade 9 who
have attended Rising
Stars as a participant,
and who can only commit
to a limited number of
sessions.
Exceptions:
Occasionally, a new staff
member may be selected based
on the directors’ prior
knowledge of the student’s
skills, personality, and
professional goals
without having attended
Rising Stars in the past.
In other words, even if you
don’t meet all the criteria,
we encourage you to apply!
If you’re not selected this
year, attend camp this
summer and show off your
interest and skills and make
sure we know you want to be
considered in the future!
